ABOUT ADOPTION. THE STORY AND THE STEPS.

Anca Gheorghică
at @ CUIB

Adoption is a subject rarely discussed — and often only in abstract terms: numbers, files, waiting lists. At the Romanian Mental Health Film Festival we begin a conversation with a real story and concrete steps.

I will share my journey, from the intention to become a single adoptive mother to an unconventional family of three, including the easy steps as well as the difficult ones. For instance, I think you’ll be surprised to find that the pre-adoption stage is more accessible than you’d imagine. What comes after is more complex — but every step is worth it.

This is the first time I’m speaking about this in public. I’m doing it because I feel adoption deserves more space in our conversations — not only because thousands of children in Romania are waiting for a family, but also because at least as many adults don’t yet know how much joy is waiting for them.

An open conversation for anyone who comes with curiosity — whether they are thinking about adoption, or simply want to understand a reality we know less about than we think.

Passionate about therapy and the relationship with Gaia — Mother Earth — she reconnects with nature through botanical art and gardening. She is known as an ecologist at Mai Bine and holds an interdisciplinary background including a doctorate in economic degrowth. None of her studies influenced her decision to become a single adoptive mother — a choice made for neither ecological nor biological reasons.
